Car history:
Seven Hills Motorcars is proud to offer this very nice 1972 Corvette Coupe in fantastic driver condition with a 4-Speed manual transmission and the original numbers matching engine with some tasteful performance upgrades. This Corvette looks good, runs well, and drives great. The drivetrain on this Corvette is completely Numbers Matching with the last six digits of the VIN stamped on the engine pad, which is pictured below. The transmission is also original with the last six digits of the VIN stamped on the main case and pictured below. It is in the correct color combination of Classic White over Black, this is the original color scheme as verified by the codes on the trim tag.
We have this car priced to sell and are offering an excellent opportunity to own a very desirable Corvette at an unbeatable value. The previous owner stated the engine was recently rebuilt and at that time some performance parts were installed for some extra horsepower such as Dart Iron Eagle cylinder heads, roller rockers, and an aggressive cam. There are photos below with the valve covers off showing the valvetrain and roller rockers. This Corvette is well tuned and runs very strong with a lot of power and a great sound. The previous owner was smart enough have all of this work performed on the original engine to retain the matching numbers.
Numbers: Please note when checking the numbers that not only do the correct stampings and casting numbers appear on the parts, but all of the dates are also chronologically correct. This means that all of the parts were made and assembled in the correct order. For example, all of the dates for the individual engine components and the engine casting date should obviously precede the assembly date of the engine because the parts had to be produced before they could be assembled. All of the parts I checked follow this rule and are dated correctly.
Exterior: The Classic White exterior is in good driver condition. As one can see in the photos, the finish has fine gloss, smooth finish, and nice shine. The car basically looks in person as it does in the photos. The chrome and other bright work shows well overall. Both doors open and shut well. The wheels and center caps are in good condition with a great finish and no curb rash. The BF Goodrich tires have plenty of tread left. There are a few small imperfections around the car as well as some cracks. There is a paint blemish by the rear antenna with specific photo of the area below. The front fenders looks like they have had work performed in the past and there is some welding on the frame. The clam shell is present, but there is no spare or jack. We have included many photos of the underside of the car to show how nice it looks and specific photos of the sports most prone to such such as the Key Hole area on the frame.
Interior: The Black interior of the Corvette is in fine condition. The seats look just as good in person just as they do in the photos with some light average wear for their age. The carpet is in great condition with no stains or holes,. This includes the rear carpet, which is often neglected. The gauge faces are clean and crisp and the lenses are clear. The dash is in great shape with no cracks, fading, or sun damage. The door panels look good. These Corvette interiors are not known to wear well over time and the nice condition of this mostly original interior is a testament to the care and attention this car has received throughout its life.
Mechanical: This Corvette seems to be in excellent mechanical condition. According to the previous owner the engine was recently rebuilt and it runs absolutely awesome. It starts right away every time and idles well. The car is a great driver that feels nice the road and at highway speeds. The mechanics and the way this Corvette runs and drives are some of its strongest points. In the video below one can observe the car accelerating on the highway up to about 70mph, shifting through all the gears, braking to stoplight, and going through some curves. Please note that there are no strange noises or vibrations and the car performs quite well overall. There is no blue smoke when starting or driving. The car runs cool and does not overheat. The car has very nice Hurst shifter that feels great. The transmission shifts well, does not pop out of gear, and the shifter is tight. The clutch feels good. The brakes are responsive and do not pull to one side or the other. This Corvette has plenty of power and is very fast. Also, the engine compartment is clean and nicely detailed as one can see in the photos. The power windows work. The blower motor for the heater works on all speeds but high. All of the gauges work with the obvious exception of the clock. The vacuum system for the headlights and wiper door works. The wipers themselves work with the override switch. The entire vacuum system operation of both the headlights and the wipers can be observed in the video. The horn does not work. This Stingray has Thrush Mufflers which give it a very healthy, aggressive, and loud exhaust tone. Not enough can be said as to how much of a pleasure it is to drive this car, especially with 4-Speed and the T-tops out on a beautiful day.
Overall Condition: Overall, this 1972 Corvette is in wonderful driver condition. It runs awesome and drives great. Numbers matching is extremely important in Corvette pricing and as one can see, this car is quite correct. There are photos below of the VIN stamp on the engine block, suffix code, engine assembly date, transmission date, and transmission VIN stamp. In my opinion and based on our experience the Chrome Bumper cars from 1968-1972 are the most collectible and hottest in the entire Corvette market right now and out of those years 1969 and 1972 are the most sought-after. The value of these cars has gone up exponentially in recent years. They are all solid investments for a collector. BiN $20,900 (Ended) on October 21, 2016. BiN $18,900 (Ended) on November 10, 2016.
